Xiaomi launches Redmi Note 2, Redmi Note 2 Prime phones with MIUI 7. Chinese handset maker Xiaomi today launches the much awaited smartphones Redmi Note 2 and Redmi Note 2 Prime at an event in Beijing, China. The Redmi Note 2 priced at RMB 799/$124 (USD), while the variant supporting FDD-LTE networks is priced at RMB 899/$140 (USD). The Redmi Note 2 Prime, on the other hand, is priced at RMB 999/$156 (USD).

The Redmi Note 2 features a 5.5-inch full HD display with 1920×1080 pixels resolution. It's powered by a 2GHz MediaTek Helio X10 Octa-Core 64-bit processor paired with 2GB of LPDDR3 RAM, 16GB internal storage and 3,060mAh battery. The Redmi Note 2 runs on MIUI 7, based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

The Redmi Note 2 sports a 13MP Samsung/OV PDAF rear camera and there is a 5MP front camera with Beautify mode. The Redmi Note 2 features connectivity options like Dual SIM card slots, 4G LTE support and Wi-Fi.

The Redmi Note 2 Prime has exactly the same features as the Redmi Note 2 except that it has 32 GB internal memory and its processor has 2.2GHz clock speed.

MIUI 7
The company also unveiled MIUI 7, the next version of its customized Android ROM at the event. MIUI 7 will be launched on August 19 in New Delhi, India and have  number of features including face recognition in the Gallery app.
